Do I know this for sure? No. Can I make a reasonable estimate based on the current solvency of these programs and the expected demofgraphic changes? Yes. If they’re going to stay viable, it’ll require either a cut in benefits or a large increase in taxes. And that’s not my opinion, it’s that of the Fed Reserve chairman.
