Taken to it’s logical extension, should we then ask for all the African nations to return the billions we have given them in foreign aid since their ancestors actually started, ran, and profited from the slave trade? After all, a lot of European types did the buying (though not exclusively) but only the Africans did the selling.

I see no reason to punish those in the present for actions of their predecessors, centuries ago.
