that’s the moral logic of common sacrifice

its also why most people dont seem to mind paying for insurance coverage they hope to never ‘use’ - auto/accident, home/fire, etc.

for some reason that view doesnt seem to hold up to health insurance where they are more than likely going to need it

I don’t mind at all that part of my property taxes goes to fund the police and fire departments. Any year that I don’t need to call on either of them, I don’t consider that money wasted.

A year that I have no need for the police or fire departments… is a good year.
