Make sure you smile when you say it, though. Nothing shrinks em like knowing you’re laughing at them— and nothing proves better that you’re not afraid (which is what they want).

I can see that. When I was face to face with those guys I have no problem admitting that inside I was scared. It was not a fun experience and in general I tend to avoid conflict like that. Once I realized though that that’s exactly what they wanted and the it was all about intimidation it got a lot easier though because essentially I just refused to let then get power over me. Laughter in that sort of situation was a really powerful diffuser where anger just fed it. As awful as it was it was really instructive.
