I’m not sure, how many other people were in the vehicle when it went off the road trying to swerve around the road block. The fact that they are all still alive means that a lot of restraint was shown IMHO

If Finicum had stayed in the car when he first stopped and surrendered to the State Police, he’d be alive today. Facing a prison term, yes, but alive. He made the choice to race away from the cops and then, when he couldn’t get around the roadblock, jump out of the car and confront them. It was a series of terrible choices, and at every point he could have been smart. But he wasn’t smart, he was stupid, and now he’s dead as a result.

The right wing is still going to try to make him into a hero, but it’s complete bullshit, as usual. He was no hero, he was an idiot, and now his family is without a father. Maybe in the long run they’ll be better off without a father like that.
