Generals lie? So, they’re lying when they say that they don’t want or need a tank that Congress has decided they should have, regardless of the cost?

The Army’s looking to a new generation tank to replace/update the Abrams, but the tank manufacturer - General Dynamics - has lobbied Congress into extending the refurb run to keep the factory line running. That’s a cost that the Pentagon can’t afford at a time when they’re trying to cut their budget and take into account the potential automatic 10% cuts enacted by Congress earlier this year unless Congress could come up with even bigger cuts.

So, apparently Ike wasn’t lying when he warned us about the military-industrial complex all those decades ago, huh?
