re: #56 Cheechako
Special day for me. Just completed another revolution around the sun. For some strange reason I have a strange song running as an ear-worm today. It goes like this: “Kookie, Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb” I think it’s from a ‘50’s TV detective show.
Of course, today’s a day for some reflective thoughts. My earliest memory is riding my trike at my Grandpas house while my Dad was in the Navy in WW II.
I can remember getting on our home phone and asking a nice lady (always a lady) to connect me to what ever person/number I wanted. And they were always very polite.
I can remember seeing President Truman at a political rally. The only President I’ve seen in person.
I remember JFK and MLK. Watched Ruby shoot Oswald on live TV.
Those are some of my “older” memories.I am thankful I found LGF. The topics and discussions are extremely stimulating and thoughtful. You LGFers keep my mind very active and inquisitive.
Thanks everyone.Oh - Get Off My Lawn and Get My Driveway Shoveled !!!
(One More Comment: I’m not old, just older!!)
Hey, I remember 77 Sunset Strip!
The building Warner’s used for location shots still stands near the corner of Sunset/La Cienega across the street from Mel’s Diner. Sadly, Dino’s Lounge was torn down long ago. Warner’s has a street marker in front of the building where the “Bailey and Spencer Agency” is!
