I was too, because naturally it seems more democratic to allow the largest number of like-minded individuals to vote.
BUT:
1. It ignores ratfuckery from the opposition.
2. A party is a political entity that requires a certain degree of commitment if your opinion is going to be considered seriously.
3. In partisan politics, independent-styled (IOW unengaged) fence-sitting during mid-term, state and local elections, shouldn’t be rewarded with privileges during the primary.
