At heart, American conservatives are authoritarians and the one thing authoritarians yearn for more than anything else is a strongman to lead them.

They like to say they believe in limited government and individual rights. I’ve not seen that especially with this administration. Trump weakening environmental regulations was done for his donor base’s benefit to pollute the environment without fear of reprisal. He repeatedly talks about sending the federal government into cities he deems “shitholes.” He outright banned transngendered people from serving their country.
