Well you’re overstating it some. There is right now an inherent racism in the GOP (or at least large segments of it).

That aside, they’re VERY into political expediency, and it was a wise political move to appoint a black man to the head of their committee, to counteract the hullabaloo over the Dems getting the first black president elected.

Steele hasn’t exactly had good luck actually using his position, tending to get slapped down most times he tries to publicly.

I marvel at your ability to mind read the monolithic thought process of an entire political party. /
