Here’s what sucks about “Mad Men.” They are trying to produce some generic “60’s” program and stick in random music and fashions from different parts of the decade without context.

The 40’s can be divided into war/postwar, the ‘50’s were all kind of generic, but the ‘60’s were very distinct:

Eisenhower/Kennedy
Kennedy assassination changed everything
The Beatles
Civil Rights
Motown
Hippies
Vietnam

1967 was very distinct from 1962. You can’t cram bits of 1967 into a TV show and pretend that it’s 1962.

You mean I can’t make a movie about John Glenn during the Mercury project and have him driving around Cocoa Beach in a ‘67 Mustang listening to Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix?
