That “person of interest” was questioned and released. Apparently not connected.

The shooter was kicked out of the army with a general discharge. Which is a way of saying “get out and stay out.” He got in trouble once for being drunk and absent without leave, but that alone would not justify a general discharge unless it was especially egregious.

The Army says there was nothing in his record to suggest or explain his recent behavior.
