“The Appalling Fraud” Resurfaces

Several people (who really ought to know better) have emailed me about a new Flash animation making the rounds on the Internet, claiming that the Pentagon was not hit by a hijacked Boeing 757, but by … uh … something else.

I’d link to this semi-slick animation but it seems to have disappeared, and with a French error message to boot.

The French error message isn’t too surprising, because this conspiracy delusion (being revived for the 2004 elections by who knows who?) was originally concocted by a Frenchman, Thierry Meyssan, in a 2002 book titled The Appalling Fraud, now being sold at Amazon under several different titles.

snopes.com has a very good debunking of Meyssan’s addle-brained, ridiculous “theory:” Urban Legends Reference Pages: Rumors of War (Hunt the Boeing!)

UPDATE at 9/7/04 7:23:04 pm:

LGF reader True German Ally points out a disturbing, possibly revealing fact about this foul Flash animation:

The opening is highly interesting: It starts with a Hitler speech blaming something on “eine kleine internationale Clique”… which meant for him… “Rich Jews”, the “internationales Finanzjudentum” (Wall Street Jews) that would plunge the world into another World War.
