CBS News Suddenly Changes Direction
Very interesting. What would make CBS News suddenly back away from their other planned hit piece on President Bush, with the lame excuse that it’s “inappropriate” to air it so close to the election? (And why wasn’t this a concern with the fraudulent Killian memos?) CBS Nixes ‘60 Minutes’ Story on Iraq War.
NEW YORK - CBS News has shelved a “60 Minutes” report on the rationale for war in Iraq because it would be “inappropriate” to air it so close to the presidential election, the network said on Saturday.
The report on weapons of mass destruction was set to air on Sept. 8 but was put off in favor of a story on President Bush’s National Guard service. The Guard story was discredited because it relied on documents impugning Bush’s service that were apparently fake.
CBS News spokeswoman Kelli Edwards would not elaborate on why the timing of the Iraq report was considered inappropriate.
And if you need any more evidence of the massive hubris of mainstream media, and their utter contempt for the audience, get a load of this:
Meanwhile, the network announced that Rather would anchor the network’s coverage of all three presidential debates, starting Sept. 30.
At the very least, this lying, discredited, egomaniacal buffoon should be barred from participating in the debates on any level. You cannot trust a single word the man says.
UPDATE at 9/25/04 3:56:12 pm:
A possible reason for CBS’s sudden unexplained decision (the “inappropriate” line is a crock) not to air a hit piece on the forged documents that showed up before the Iraq War, alleging uranium purchases from Niger: the agent who forged the documents was working for France.
Pretty hard to smear Bush with this one, when it came from France.
