Palestinian Gunmen Seize Election Offices.
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Dozens of masked Palestinian gunmen took over election offices in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, demanding spots for an armed group with links to the ruling Fatah faction in the party’s list of candidates for a January parliamentary election, witnesses and officials said.
In Gaza City, more than 60 gunmen stormed the main election office, exchanging fire with policemen. One officer was injured, and the gunmen left the area after police reinforcements were called in.
In Rafah, gunmen surrounded the election office, but Palestinian police prevented them from entering. In Khan Younis and Deir el-Balah, gunmen stormed the buildings and the standoffs were still under way.
