LGF Technical Update - Database Conversion Hijinx 2
In the ongoing LGF Blog Engine Makeover Project, huge progress was made today on the display side of the application. I’ve settled on the database table designs for entries and comments, converted most of the existing entries/comments to MySQL, and now the display engine is capable of building and sending to the browser individual entry pages, with or without comments, pulling all the required information out of the database dynamically.
The design pattern (for those of you with geek inclinations) is the Model-View-Controller, and the Model and View portions are more than half finished now. The Controller portion is last on the to-do list; that’s the code layer that lets me add/edit/delete entries, manage comments and user registrations, and other admin type stuff.
It’s still not ready for public consumption, but getting much closer.
