Eighteen more people injured in the south Thailand jihad: 18 injured in bomb attack in S. Thailand.

BANGKOK, July 17 (AP) - (Kyodo)— A bomb exploded Tuesday in southern Thailand, injuring at least 18 people who were investigating an earlier blast, police said.

The two bombs were hidden in a motorcycle parked in front of a shop near Yala railway station in Yala province, according to the police.

The first bomb was detonated around 7:20 a.m. by remote control, and the second bomb exploded around 8 a.m. when soldiers had reached the scene.

Four reporters were among the injured while two of the soldiers were seriously injured.

More than 3,000 people have been killed in a violent insurgency in the mainly Muslim southern provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat that began in early 2004.
