Speaking of Pages, would it be possible at some point to have a notification area to let us know when a page we've either commented in or created has new comments? Maybe an extra list in the top-left "Logged In" box, with messages like "6 new comments in [title of page]"

I would love a feature like that, as it would make it much easier to keep track of Pages that have long since scrolled off the main site.

That would be fantastically helpful, and would really boost up page activity greatly.

It could even be optional, too. Maybe a box you click if you want to be notified of responses.
I don't know if that makes it easier or harder to code though. I've suspected that feature (notification of responses on pages) would be a pain in the butt to develop.

But even so, if I could wish for any one new feature, that would be it above everything-- a way to track responses to your pages and follow conversations on someone else's page that you're participating in.

Seems to be an ever more time consuming hobby around here lately, I'm sorry but a lot of the threads just are not any fun to fun read anymore. Instead of insight, research, informed speculation, and historical allegory we see "slap fights" as you so aptly put it. Sigh...

I realize that some of the Leftward leaning people think that the Rightward leaning people are complete dicks, but do they need to be quite so obvious about it? I was attracted to this site because unlike pretty much all the others it still had regulars from both sides who argued the issues. That seems to be disappearing in favor of attacking your opponent personally, the ad-hominems are flying fast and thick around here lately.

I think maybe Stinky needs to come out of hiding and start doing some slapping himself, arguing your point is one thing, trying to harass someone ceaselessly until they leave the site is another.

Just my two cents Charles...
