Sarah Palin Puts Big Iowa Tea Party Speech on Hold Because of ‘Continual Lying’

When liars lie to liars
Wingnuts • Views: 30,804

You have to admit, Sarah Palin’s very good at one thing: quitting.

Sarah Palin’s Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, is on hold, a person close to the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.

The person said Ms. Palin’s appearance was “no longer confirmed” and cited “continual lying” from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell of Delaware would also speak.

Ms. Palin is known for last-minute schedule changes that whipsaw supporters and media across the country. But the latest decision is puzzling. Ms. Palin’s speech at the rally was viewed as her most high-profile appearance of the summer, fueling  speculation she was indeed plotting to run for the Republican presidential nomination.

Diva alert! There will be no sharing the stage with lesser divas.

I know the Iowa Tea Party will be disappointed, but I'm glad Sarah has finally decided to enter rehab for her continual lying...

...wait.

Nevermind.

Of course she quit.
She'd have to tell them whether she was going to run or not.

6 b_sharp  Wed, Aug 31, 2011 11:14:35am

Perhaps she should stop lying then.

Edit:(Damn, I got beaten to the punchline by SFZ - again)

I *almost* feel sorry for her diehard fans. They don't realize she simply doesn't have the fortitude to run for president, much less be president. How disappointed they're going to be, since even if she does end up running her share of the vote will be a pittance.

Can you imagine how a President Palin would react the first time she faced a crisis, difficult decision, or unexpected pushback from Congress? She'd probably pull a Cartman (pull a Palin?) and fly home to Alaska for a couple of days.

11 jaunte  Wed, Aug 31, 2011 11:15:50am
Previously, the organizers had publicly suggested that Palin might use the rally to launch a White House run -- a prospect that sources close to Palin have sought to dial down.

“The truth of the matter is you’ve got a couple old cowboys running a Tea Party and we’re not professional politicians,” Tea Party of America President flake enabler Ken Crowe told RCP earlier on Wednesday morning. “I’m way green.”[Link: www.realclearpolitics.com...]

re: #11 jaunte

Yeah, that's likely to be a big part of the reason why she's suddenly gotten rather silent in recent weeks. With time running down and first Bachmann and now Perry in the race, her few remaining supporters are wondering aloud when she's going to join up too. And that's simply not in the cards, not when she'd be fighting Huntsman for the bottom spot on the ladder.

13 Bulworth  Wed, Aug 31, 2011 11:21:38am

So she's calling the teabag organizers "liars"? Aren't they her base? Not to concern troll or anything.

When Palin first arrived on the scene, she reminded me a lot of Bachmann. That same glassy stare, that same carefully-circumscribed world. the same sense of being a victim.

Expect a lot of lies this campaign season. A lot of terrible things said about Obama.

I'll say this much about Michele Bachmann. I cannot stand what she stands for but at least she's putting her money where her mouth is and actually running for president. Palin meanwhile just stands there and whines about a persecution that never is. Palin has to know deep down she's flat out unqualified for the job. I mean really the half term governor of one of the smallest population(Read economies) in the US. I thought it was a joke that Meg Whitman or was it Carly Fiorina tried to claim that simply because she was a governor she somehow was more qualified for VP than Biden. Nevermind the fact that Biden was first elected to the Senate when Sarah was 8 years old and has chaired numerous important Senate committees (Judiciary and Foreign Relations come to mind)

I can't imagine she sees O'Donnell as a threat--O'Donnell bombed, and does not have nearly the mass appeal Palin does.

That should probably be: “Does it matter, should it matter if somebody’s ignorant?”

Some people have to have it spelled out. I guess Kelly is one such person.

You nailed it.

2.re: #25 SanFranciscoZionist

Palin's tactic is to behave like she's in a separate, higher category from the rest of the field. She refuses to debate. She endorses others but acts like she's not seeking endorsements. She issues directives to the government via Facebook, supposedly on behalf of the American people.

The intended message is that Palin is communing with God and the American People, and is not grubbing for power like all those politicians. Apparently we are supposed to beg her to deign to run.

2. The danger of a Palin Presidency is apparently over. However, things will be ominous should Palin decide that a third-party or independent run maximizes her cash flow. (If the economy recovers, Obama will be reelected, period. If the economy deteriorates, it will be terrible for the country's stability if Obama is reelected by something like Obama 40%, Republican 40%, Palin 20%--especially if the Republicans sweep Congress.)

Like the old story about LBJ:

When Lyndon Johnson ran for Congress, legend says, he wanted to spread the rumor that his opponent was a pig-fucker. Johnson's campaign manager said, "Lyndon, you know he doesn't do that!" Johnson replied, "I know. I just want to make him deny it."

Palin's mental illness is much stronger than her (presumed) political positions. So now she accuses the Tea Party of "continual lying". If Palin becomes President, or Vice President, or a Senator from Arizona, EVEN REPUBLICANS will have no clue about how she will actually govern. After all her talk about cutting government spending to the bone, she may appoint a cabinet secretary for special-needs children. Can anyone honestly say that they know how she would vote as a Senator on anything? How might she vote as a Senator on some issue concerning Israel? How can anyone know? If someone from the Tea Party rubs her the wrong way, she'll happily vote to keep ObamaCare. If a liberal rubs her the wrong way, she'll happily vote to repeal ObamaCare. As always, it's all about her mental illness, NOT any political or ideological positions.

Do you think she'll run 3rd party? I don't, only because the GOP will squash her like a bug, for the reasons you state. I don't think they'd even allow her on the ticket, even if she did get decent support. Too divisive, and it will bring out every disgruntled anti-Obama prog in the world. They need as many people on our side to stay home.

re: #27 jvic

You are probably correct that the danger of a Palin presidency is apparently over. My concern at this point is that she may run for the House or Senate from Arizona, where she recently purchased a home. Becoming a Senator would fulfill one of her most feverish fantasies: to be able to regularly snub Lisa Murkowski, currently a Senator from Alaska, and no Palin fan.

Now she's quit this too. Excellent!

At the risk of stating the obvious, that's a really stupid hat.
