Romney Spokesman to Reporters at Polish Holy Site: “Kiss My Ass”

And while you’re at it, “shove it”
Politics • Views: 24,429

Mitt Romney’s press secretary Rick Gorka unveiled a new campaign slogan today in Poland: “Kiss My Ass.”

As Romney left the site of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw and walked toward his motorcade parked in Pilsudski Square, reporters began shouting questions from the line where campaign staffers had told them to stay behind, prompting traveling press secretary Rick Gorka to tell a group of reporters to “kiss my a**” and “shove it.”

They seem a little tense.

Why is it that reporters are not allowed to do their jobs while the Romney staff are allowed to do their job, namely acting like arrogant jerks?

What in tarnation? Can't they make a trip without causing an international incident?

At the moment, the threshold for a Mitt's successful trip is, "do not start WW3". I find he's struggling to meet that threshold.

Is this really a surprise? Whenever something happens that deviates from the Romney camp's plans, they just don't handle it well at all; just imagine if he wins and unseats President Obama.

If for no other reason, this (as well as his foot-in-mouth tendencies) should render Romney unfit for the big chair.

Team Romney suffers from the same weakness as do Palin, Bachmann, Santorum, Cain, and other gutless political lightweights:

Mitt regards any reporter or interviewer who has the temerity to hold him accountable for his previously stated positions to be a bullying, biased member of a left-wing conspiracy, and he views any question for which is unwilling or unable to provide an honest, substantive question to be a "gotcha" question.

In short, Romney and his campaign staff feel that members of the news media should act as though they are working for his public relations department, only asking him the questions that he WANTS to be asked.

Did Romney mention, after lauding the socialist system in Israel, that Poland also has a health care mandate?

The Polish healthcare system is state-financed through the National Health Fund (NFZ), to which everyone working in Poland is required to contribute. Employee contributions are deducted direct from salaries by employers, while the self-employed are required to make their own contributions direct to the NFZ. In 2005 contributions were 8.5 % of salary, less social insurance payments.
People who are covered by the national health insurance system, and their dependents, are entitled to free primary health care, specialist out-patient care, hospital treatment, dental treatment and ambulance transport. They are required to present their medical insurance card when seeking treatment. All EU nationals visiting Poland who hold an E-111 form are also provided with free healthcare.

Standards of medical care are adequate in Poland, although hospital facilities are of a lower standard than in many Western countries. Emergency services may be lacking in some rural areas. Most specialist forms of healthcare are available in the larger cities. It is acceptable to approach specialists direct without a GP referral. For foreign nationals not covered by the national insurance scheme, immediate cash payment may be required by some doctors.
All types of medicines are widely available in Poland, and the main cities have drugstores which open 24 hours a day.

Florida--providing transparency by redefining transparency:

Florida Gov’s Email Transparency Initiative Favored Friendly Comments

Back in May, Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) announced a bold initiative: his and other non-exempt executive staff emails would be made available to the public in an online database. A few months later, though, the effort has been less transparent window and more rose-colored glasses.

According to The Tampa Bay Times, the emails made public until now were not the ones in Scott’s official state account. Instead, the emails put online “were from a different account used almost exclusively by conservative supporters.” The email address that until now fed the online database, RLS@eog.myflorida.com, appears as Scott’s email on Florida Tea Party websites.

As a result, the database contained a very high percentage of emails favorable to Scott’s administration. And the Times reports that the impression given by those emails has had an impact:

Reporters — acting at the urging of Scott — have regularly relied on the Sunburst database rather than filing a public records request for official emails. Several reporters have used those emails to gauge public sentiment on a host of issues, and the informal reviews have skewed results in favor of the governor.

And from the Tampa Bay Times.

TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Rick Scott said he was championing transparency in May when he gave the public access to his emails by posting them online for anyone to see.

But what he failed to say at his May 3 news conference launching "Project Sunburst" was that the emails he made public were not the emails in his official state account. The emails the public actually read online were from a different account used almost exclusively by conservative supporters.

On Monday, after the Times/Herald questioned what appeared to be an unrealistically high percentage of favorable emails on the public database, the Scott administration issued a statement acknowledging the two separate email accounts. It also announced that it would phase out RLS@eog.myflorida.com. That email — which was not on the official state website — appears on many tea party websites across the state, under the heading "Governor Rick Scott's email."

Perhaps, then, Romney would like to take some questions on these or any other topics, so that the fourth estate or whatever estate can write intelligent and thoughtful pieces explaining where the candidates stand so that voters can make an informed decision.

Of course this is why Hamas and the PA take issue with the comment. It blames the Palestinians and their own decisions for the lack of prosperity. Gaza is not occupied. The Israelis would love to disengage with the Palestinians and the withdrawal from Gaza was the trial balloon for the "land for peace" concept which the Palestinians have soundly rejected by continuing a campaign of terrorism and rocket launches.

Twenty seconds per lie is a pretty impressive rate.

1. Romney says he knows what it's like "to wonder whether you're going to be able to make ends meet."

Guffaw.

2. Romney's ad claims that he had the "best jobs record of any Massachusetts governor in the last decade," citing the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

One of two MA governors in the last decade, the other of which presided over the Bush Crash.

3. Romney claims credit for creating a $100 million surplus at the Salt Lake Olympics which he says was donated to an endowment for the future of Olympic sport

"Doesn't bother mentioning the federal government spent $1.3 billion on the games or that the surplus was actually $56 million and the donation was actually $40 million."

for the first time in a Pew Research Center survey there is as much strong support as strong opposition to gay marriage. In the current survey, 22% say they strongly support allowing gays and lesbians to marry legally; an identical percentage (22%) strongly opposes gay marriage. In 2008, there was about twice as much strong opposition to as strong support for gay marriage (30% vs. 14%).

They finally find a candidate who committed voter fraud and its an Arizona Republican

A Pinal County supervisor candidate has withdrawn from the race in the wake of voter-fraud allegations involving a former companion who, records show, has continued to vote by absentee ballot in the five years since her death.

John Enright, 66, had been seeking the Republican nomination for county supervisor of District 5, an area that includes Apache Junction and Gold Canyon.

He withdrew from the race Wednesday in a letter to Pinal County Elections Director Steve Kizer. In a written statement issued hours later through his attorney, Enright said he entered the race "wanting to bring a voice to Pinal County government" but was leaving it "for several reasons, including an almost year-long battle with cancer."

His statement made no mention of the scandal unleashed in an anonymous, undated letter sent several weeks ago to the Pinal County Recorder's Office. As recently as this year, the letter alleged, someone had been filling out and mailing in absentee ballots addressed to a woman who died on Feb. 3, 2007. The woman, Sheila Nassar, and Enright lived together at the time of her death.

Is that 'Palestinian culture' or is it politics?

It's a mix of both. Culturally they do praise terrorists and martyrs as national heroes. Politically the problem comes from the lack of willingness to share power. Hamas and the PA tried power sharing but the urge to arrest each other's politicians and make power grabs scuttled the alliance. It remains to be seen but I think it's unlikely Hamas will leave power on the results of a free election. Also both the PA and Hamas have a long history of arresting those willing to make peace with Israel as traitors. Part of the reason the PA has held on so long is because anyone more moderate than themselves is quickly dispatched.
