The New Yorker Imagines Former Presidents Reacting to Trump
Barry Blitt, The New Yorker’s cover artist, has a real classic this week, imagining the reactions of five former presidents watching Donald Trump rant on television.

So, called my insurance to verify my procedure Friday is authorized and seeing how much its going to cost me. Learned if its billed one way, I pay $650 deductible, the 10% of the remaining bill, and if its billed another way, they cover 100% of the cost.
So, guess what I’m attempting to verify this morning?

I think the bottom one is FDR.

I don’t see Wilson.
I see FDR, JFK, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and Washington.

Makes more sense. Faith in the deep important seriousness of magazine covers: restored.

We’re talking a guy who’s making the age-old promise of putting the US embassy in Jerusalem. He probably figures that he could force the Palestinians to sign a treaty pretty easily: Sign or be wiped out. The terms? You can leave peacefully and give up all the land to Israel or else.

Look, every frickin’ president would facepalm over Trump’s insanities. Sure, there’s a few who might give Trump a pass on the racist crap (Wilson among others were racists to their core). But the overall tenor of Trump’s statements, demagoguery, and his hateful agenda would get the former presidents in agreement.
Trump has no place in the White House, and more than a few might want to keep him off the WH tour as a guest.
I saw a few people take umbrage that JFK nearly got the US into a nuclear war over Cuba with the Russians. The important thing is that his administration figure out how to not only deescalate the crisis, but effectively created a new hotline so that those kinds of situations could be hashed out far more quickly and easily.
Trump would ignore his underlings and shoot first and ask questions later. Bellicosity is his game. Carnage is what’s left in his wake.
Eisenhower would probably be angriest of them all. He saw war up close and personal. He oversaw the Allied efforts in Europe during WWII. He knows what happens when you put demagogues in charge. It’s not pretty, and yet that’s exactly where the GOP wants to go.

Huh where’s Wilson? JFK, George, Teddy, and Abe are there. I guess TJ was too busy training for the presidential races at Nats Park.

During the storm on Saturday morning, I commented that there were flood indicators suggesting minor flooding. Well, the full scope of the damage by Sunday shows that there was major damage done in some parts of the Jersey Shore worse than when Sandy hit.
Parts that had dunes and sea walls built/rebuilt fared best, but NJ has been dragging its feet on this (and wouldn’t you know, but it appears that the NJ application to get funds for reinforcing/repairing the beaches was found inadequate and therefore limited the amount of money). Guess who’s to blame for that - Gov. Christie.
Yeah, shocking that the governor once again left money on the table (he screwed up with Race to the Top funds too).
I’m glad that the short sorta truce with Putin because of ISIS seems to be over.

Christie did not even hear any criticism. There is no criticism. One of the saner ones, eh?

I think you’re giving Trump too much credit, I don’t think he’d ever bother asking questions.
If I write “activist” you probably think of Sander’s supporters standing in front of Wall Street offices, or maybe anti-whaling folk chasing Japanese fishing boats in inflatables, or something similar.
Little did I know that “activists” mean armed insurrectionists:
The Latest: Oregon sheriff backs some demands by armed group
An Oregon sheriff has endorsed two of the demands made by an armed group that took over a federal wildlife preserve.
Malheur National Wildlife Refuge is in Harney County, where local, state and federal law enforcement have convened to figure out how to deal with the occupation by the activists opposing federal land policy.
[…]
Glenn Palmer, the sheriff of nearby Grant County, told The Oregonian that releasing two ranchers from prison and sending the FBI out of the region would “be a start” to ending the occupation.
Malheur County Sheriff Brian Wolfe, who has been assisting Harney County officials, says Palmer’s position is hampering efforts to end the armed standoff.
Looks like the armed thugs found a sympathetic sheriff, but the other sheriffs don’t like it.

Probably right. Assumes facts not in evidence.
Mother Jones has something to say about this cover

It’s pretty funny, at first glance, but the problem with this cover is that the only thing many of those ex-presidents would find confusing about Trump is the television he’s on.

Well we are talking about a man who tried to outliberal Ted Kennedy on LGBT issues only to flash forward 18 years to firing a gay adviser to satisfy the bigots in the religious right.

Just random thought, but freaking TMZ secures everyone’s mug shot. Wonder why Track Palin’s is unavailable?

Isn’t this the schlub they met with a week or so ago? Said he disagreed with their tactics but supported their cause? Why, yes…yes it is.
Also, too….
