Amazing New Music From Jacob Collier: “Hajanga”
Jacob Collier’s debut album is out now, and it’s absolutely stunning. In some ways, it reminds me of the first time I heard Weather Report — that combination of technical sophistication and almost child-like creative joy. It’s definitely in the running for the best album of the year — actually the best in many years.
And it’s much more than a technical tour de force, although it is most definitely that, since Jacob plays all the instruments and sings all the vocals. But there are songs on here that will touch your heart in a way that seems almost preternatural in such a young musician. And “Hajanga” is one of them. This isn’t “jazz,” although some will put it in that category. It’s just … music.
Jacob Collier takes a journey in celebration of the Hajanga, which is within us all – to bring you the fourth and final single from his debut album, ‘In My Room’.
