Video: President Obama Holds His Final Press Conference

Politics • Views: 42,456

YouTube

Gotta tell you, folks. This is hard to watch, knowing that the man following President Obama into the White House is Obama’s polar opposite in so many ways: a thin-skinned, insecure yet egomaniacal, vindictive, vengeful, utterly dishonest 70-year old racist baby-man with a Cabinet full of extremists and white supremacists.

The President says he’s going to attend the illegitimate Trump Horror’s inauguration, and I suppose I understand why; if nothing else, out of respect for the institution. But the Trump human being deserves no respect at all. And I’ll never consider him my president.

I keep expecting to get into the “acceptance” phase of the grief cycle over the election of this monster, but I seem to be stuck at “rage.”

President Obama has more integrity and respect for American institutions than the self-described wingnut “patriots” give him credit for .

God I’m gonna miss him so much.

just as depressing as the upcoming inauguration of a shit-flinging orange baboon is the knowledge that waiting in the wings post-impeachment is an Evangelical Christian Supremacist backed by a corporate-owned Republican Congress just waiting to implement vast social policy dictates that 65%-75% of the country can’t stand.

There’s probably a roof over the place where the Presidents sit, sadly. It would be pure pleasure to see that thing on his head he calls his hair, all bedraggled and plastered to his head.

I’m fascinated to know what his hair helmet does during the occasions on which it is exposed to moisture!

Options include:

A— Screams “Help! I’m melting!”;

B— Generates a tractor beam, deflecting all moisture; or

C— Jumps up and scurries under the dais.

Hey Charles, I just was watching Tweety Matthews to see his coverage on the last Obama press conference and idiot Matthews broke out.

He said something like “the left better not say that he’s not a legitimate president crazy stuff…what does that even mean?”

I thought of you.

I just changed the channel. Too much Matthews.

Matthews is so enamored of the political game he doesn’t even see the danger of Trump. All he sees is that he was elected and that is how it works in America…live with it.

He probably thinks all the other government entities will keep Trump in check.

Time to retire Tweety. Reason has passed you by.

The United States hasn’t done a large-scale military parade in at least a hundred years outside of one staged for welcoming home troops from World War II at the end of that conflict. In fact, it’s safe to say that almost all of the countries that still engage in this practice are totalitarian, single-party rule with heavily repressed citizenry.

That is the division stationed out of Fort Stewart - the forces of a single military base. The kind of parades that Trump is talking about is one of multiple divisions across all military branches - there’s a serious difference between a parade of around 5000 troops and one of close to a million, if he decides to require all reserves to participate as well as active troops not stationed overseas.

On the other hand, if CNN doesn’t kowtow or apologise, he could revoke any access to the White House Press briefings (if he has any).

That access thing seems a lot more important to the media than, I dunno, journalism.

I could barely stand to listen to GW Bush, and his repetitive, sing-song cadence when reading a speech. Not sure how I’ll handle the next 4 years. I have not been able to handle - ever- listening to Trump for more than about 30 seconds at a stretch. The effect is like the bastard child of fingernails on a chalkboard and microphone feedback.

O’Brien: At the end of the day, the two most powerful people in his White House, other than him, are going to be Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, and they’re going to have the final say on everything. And whatever Gary Cohn or Rex Tillerson or General Mattis or Jeff Sessions or Steve Bannon has to say, it will all end up getting filtered through Javanka.

I will not listen to any random word salad (I can’t call what Trump says “a speech”) in that whiny, nasal noise coming out of the Orange Shitgibbon’s mouth hole.

That’s a good idea. Unfortunately, until recently there was no way to check the expiration date with PayPal’s API. They recently made some changes that make it possible, but only for subscriptions that started after those changes.

If you look in your Account Settings, there’s a section that tells you when your subscription expires, if we have that information for you.

Sadly the information doesn’t seem to be there. It just gives a number for the transaction. Presumably it will be for the next round.

You can also check the expiration date on Paypal:

1. Login to your PayPal account at paypal.com

2. Click on Profile at the top of the PayPal main page, then the gear icon to get to your PayPal “Profile and Settings” page.

3. In the “My Money” section of your profile page: click on the “My preapproved payments” link.

Yeah, I’ve been wondering how I’ll know when my subscription expires, since I can’t remember when I signed up. I guess when I have flashing, revolving ads greet me, that will be a subtle clue.

Check your LGF profile page. It shows exactly when your subscription expires and you can mark it down on your calendar.

I saw that around noon today. It sounded like something out of the fucking Gangs of New York from the 1860’s.

Cordish and other club owners hired “white rabbits” to assault African Americans who came into the clubs. Extra money was paid if the night was really bloody, and rabbits got free drinks etc. Of course, the rabbits were not to let on that they were on payroll.

One “rabbit” even testified to the scheme.

Thomas Alexitch said in a sworn affidavit that he was hired to work as an instigator at the Cordish-owned Mosaic club, after supervisors allegedly complained of the club “attracting the wrong kind of crowd.”

Alexitch said his job was to “start altercations with certain groups of people. By starting these altercations, I ensured that these groups of people would be kicked out of the club.”

Superiors allegedly told him which groups to target.

“I would estimate that 90 percent of the people I started altercations with were African Americans,” Alexitch said.

Alexitch said he was given drinks and cash for doing it.

“Most nights I was paid between $50 and $100, but on nights when this would get particularly heated, I would get $125-150,” he testified.

Alexitch said he was hired by Glen Cusimano, a general manager who also testified to witnessing racism at an annual corporate Cordish event.

“At one of the meetings, I and several GMs from other cities were sitting around a table,” Cusimano said in an affidavit. “Several mentioned that they used a rabbit in their Cordish Districts. I remember one GM bragging that he kept a spray can of mace in his pocket, and from time to time, when it was dark and crowded, he would walk through the open area, and fire a shot up into the air above a group of black males.”

I’ve been plagued by bouncing and unreceived emails for years at LGF when I send email from a littlegreenfootballs.com account, so much that I set up some Gmail accounts so things like registration notices etc. would get through everybody’s spam filters. But I think I may have finally solved the problem. Will be testing for a few days to make sure.

The “Dead Rabbits” were the Irish immigrant gang of the 1860’s. The “Bowery Boys” were the “Nativist” gang.

The “Sharks” were the Puerto Rican immigrant gang of the 1960’s. The “Jets” were the “Nativist” gang. Although I have seen a production of “West Side Story” where the “Jets” were African-American and it worked just as well theatrically.

That is how tribalism works.

Rick Perry may be totally incompetent for this position but he doesn’t appear to be malicious or a grifter and, unlike Ben Carson, he has real government experience. I hope he will listen to experienced subordinates and try to do an adequate job; he doesn’t strike me as someone who would deliberately try to sabotage the mission of his department, like some of the other appointments will do.

Teen fuckin’ Vogue, people.

For a nominee to be ill prepared in answering questions on this issue, or more insidiously, being unwilling to commit to civil rights law should be understood as disqualifying. No candidate for Secretary of Education should be allowed to look a room with survivors in the eye and refuse to say, “I will do everything in my power to maintain these protections and keep you safe.” I hope you rethink some of the answers you gave to senators during your confirmation hearings about Title IX over the next few days. I hope you come down on the right side of this issue. There are no two sides, Betsy. You’re either protecting the civil rights of survivors and LGBTQ youth — and students with disabilities and those who take out loans — or you’re facilitating an environment where the cost of education continues to include violence and discrimination.

Perry had 298 executions over a 15 year period while W had 152 over a 5 year period; i.e. 50% more per year. This is a reflection on Texas, not just Perry.

I am glad to live in a state where our Republican governor(ok- he did go to prison for crimes committed as Secretary of State) essentially stopped executions in 2000.

Thanks, I lifted the design from a Swedish weaving magazine. It was really designed for a different type of drawloom-one where you can repeat designs across the width and only have to pull one cord to do all the repeats across. In my case, I have to manipulate some 80 cords across the whole width instead of a total of 10, so it took a lot longer and there was a much greater chance to make mistakes, and I did really have to concentrate on it, but it was worth it. I really like the way it came out.

Although the last three Secretaries had superb credentials in the field, most of the prior appointments were lawyers or politicians. Rick Perry may be in way over his head but others who held the post were managers, without scientific background. As long as he has competent people actually running the Department, it probably won’t be a disaster. That isn’t true of most of the other Trump appointees.
