I think they are going after the media narrative that Kavanaugh’s treatment has now made this race a tossup. I’ve heard it several times already. Bill Maher mentioned it last night. Local news here in Columbus has made that part of their reports.

357 are a bigger and more powerful round, but because of that are more expensive to use in target shooting by a lot, and are mostly made as revolvers rather than semi-auto. (Many also take 38 special round, which have the same limitations and benefits, but less so.)
9mm are smaller and probably the most common round after the .22, which makes them cheaper to train with (by about half, last I checked). They are also more commonly made as semi-autos, if you like that sort of thing.

9mm: lots of available firearms and amm o. NATO standard. Good performance in its intended role. For practical purposes only available in semi-auto pistols, many of which are designed to be easy to carry but are not easy to shoot. Lots of practice needed for the little ones. I would probably be looking for a surplus Star BM. Not as compact but easier to shoot.
.38 special/+P/.357 Magnum: the ultimate evolution of the police revolver. Smith and Wesson, a 4” barrel, and blue steel like the cop shows of the past. Performance ranges from puffball .38 special for target shooting to firebreathing magnums fit to stop bears all from the same gun. Absolute reliability - I’ve seen k frames that were not touched for decades be picked up and fired perfectly. Autos aren’t going to do that ;) modern revolvers can do 7 or 8 rounds.

Now it just sits around collecting dust.

OT, but in the previous conversation on handguns and bows I revealed that I was a BSA dude. Actually, I am an Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow veteran. It’s kind of a wonder to remember that to myself now—hey, I spent a night in the woods in northern Wisconsin alone with a tin can and water, a 1/4 lb of hamburger, a knife, a flint and tender kit, and insect repellent. I made a fire, made a sapling burger-holder, made fiddlehead fern soup in the tin can, and basically stayed up all night in my lean-to tending the fire because I was scared of bears. I didn’t know that adults were walking around making sure we were ok until later. Oh and the day of silence the next day! Fun tour down memory lane.

The ironic thing to me is, if Trump had never gotten elected, he never would have come under such severe scrutiny. He may have been able to fly just under the radar until he died of old age, syphilis, or cirrhosis of the liver. His sudden appearance under the spotlight of the Mueller investigation guaranteed his eventual downfall; now it is just a matter of timing, to which he is reacting by trying to draw it out as long as possible. I’m going to do my best to make sure that does NOT happen.

I’ve never told anyone this outside of meatspace friends and the family who know, but I underwent the same rigors and rituals - but it was a religiously indoctrinated version, co-opted by an evangelical sect to infuse their young boys/men with religious fervor as well as outdoorsman skills. So while I’m the equivalent of an Eagle Scout, the BSA would never recognize me as such.

I did archery in Boy Scouts, too. I sucked, but I loved it.
I’m ok. I did once manage to (completely by accident) robin-hood two aluminum arrows so tightly that they’re still stuck together on my mantle. So, as far as anyone else knows, I’m Green Arrow come to life. And I do as little to disabuse them of that notion as I can.

Nicely done! Cleaning fish is above my pay grade, but my mom learned from an excellent tutor. Her dad was the local fisherman-guru, and her mom cleaned and fried all sorts of fish. She was “lucky” enough to get to help in the kitchen.
