A ramble. Thanks Charles, for all of the music videos. I have been exposed to and enjoy now, music that I would have never heard otherwise-they don’t tour here, or not get much radio play. I like Bonamassa and some others I can’t remember at the moment. And I certainly appreciate at least a glimpse into what we call “world music”,. music from other parts of the world.

I have writers block and insecurity, which is probably why I don’t spend hours on my blogs. Am I a good writer? Would people want to read me? Whatever. Plus, I seem to do my best writing in comments where there are other people. It feels kind of lonely writing on my own blogs.

I saw a big black pickup truck in the parking lot of the super market with a bumpersticker that read: “I’m not anti-Republican; I’m anti-stupid.” Both my wife and I did a double take to see if we’d read it right—not the norm for that kind of vehicle around here.

re: #3 Charles Johnson

Top White House aides plan to present President Trump with a wide ranging response strategy to the growing threat of impeachment in the coming days.

1. Do not Tweet shit without secondary approval
2. Listen to what your lawyers, generals, etc. are telling you. They know what the fuck they’re doing, you don’t.
3. Now might be a good time for your kids to take a monthlong vacation.
4. Fire Rudy Giuliani before he says more crazy shit.
5. STOP CALLING THE FUCKING UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT. JUST STOP.
6. In fact, shutting the fuck up in general would be a good idea.
7. Talk to Barr before you namedrop him. Seriously, you really screwed the pooch on that one.
8. Screaming: “Presidential Harassment!” does not help your cause. Refer to point 6.
9. Threatening those who oppose you is a REALLY bad idea.
10. Again, do NOT Tweet shit without secondary approval!

Then they’ll throw their hands up in the air and go cry in a corner as Trump ignores the whole damn thing.

Thanks for posting this!

First thoughts…

1. Isn’t Al Jazeera owned by the Saudi family? Is this a vote by MBS to drag us into the mess he created by stirring up the hornets nest? And conflict against Iran?
(Correction - The Quataris own Al Jazeera, the Saudis own Al-Arabiya.)

2. The Saudis have been abusing on the Shiites for decades.

3. This likely pathetic performance by the Saudi military is consistent with their historical performance. And it is unlikely to change as the Saudis will not reform the military until they reform their entire government away from the Royal Family.

Edit to add correction to point #1. And… second edit to correct typo in correction #1 (Saufdis - Saudis)

Same here. I started a blog a while ago. I made it for about a month before I decided I was putting *way* too much work into something that only a hand full of people would ever see. (Although, in my case part of the problem was that I was trying to be way too clever by much more than a half. Which wan’t the first time I’ve had that problem by a long-shot.)

(BTW, I left a reply to your private message in the last thread, shortly before it started pining for the fjords.)

also, since we have something of a Sunday afternoon lull, I just wanted to say thank you to all of the Lizards that have participated in the LCP (Lizard Connectivity Project) in making Facebook connections. I know that the losses of our fellow commentators is painful, but I think its even worse not knowing, especially so in the type of community that we share, educating each other, supporting each other and reaching out and sharing the joy as well as the tragedy, because as I see it, that’s simply what friends do.

If you have been reluctant to connect, don’t be, we’re all either political or musical junkies (or both) and staying in touch, even in such a neutral way as being included on a feed of events in our lives is at a minimum, non-intrusive and at a plus, allows deeper bonds to form if so inclined.

He’s the fucking President! He’s supposed to be representing our country. That damned sure IS our business!

Fuck that piece of shit Cletus. He’s the basically the same motherfucker who lost his mind over Obama PWBing (Presidenting While Black), wearing a tan suit, and called Michelle Obama horrible racial slurs for suggesting that Cletus’s kids play outside for an hour and eat a vegetable every other full moon.

These people want a full conservative theocratic dictatorship in this country. I was just in the comments section of a site that makes Daily Kos look like Breitbart, and they were all pissing and moaning; again; that the Democrats are barely the lesser of two evils.

I really want to post that graphic there and remind these motherfuckers this is what we’re up against.

Unreal. The President is abusing the diplomatic power of the office for personal gain, and this fucknut doesn’t think it’s the public’s concern.

Times like these I really think we are in a civil war in this country. Because all of the people who hate Trump and tsk tsk me for overreacting look at something like this and pretend it’s an outlier. Which just emboldens Trump and the MAGAts further, knowing our precious idiot “independents” are too spineless to act on any misgiving they have.

Hard truth is this is the absolute fucking DNA of the GOP and a huge majority of every conservative in this country.

QFT — ‘left to wonder’ is the worst outcome when someone goes over the horizon, as true for online friends as for in-person friends. Finding out years later, or often never, a raveled thread dangling where that connection was.

This really is the entire game. If the Hill has to depend on subpoenas rather than voluntary testimony, DOJ will tie them up in court until the public moves on. Trump’s threats are only going to get worse.

I believe the plan is that if the House doesn’t get the testimony, they’ll add that to the articles of impeachment and move on.

I think we are very close to a major outbreak of RWNJ violence. The millions of ammosexuals and thug theocrats are Trump’s ace in the hole, really his only one. I have been warning about this for years, but another possibility has occurred to me:
If it does come to violence, it is possible that the RWNJs will collapse and wilt at the first shock. Their outlook, their threats, and even their very lives are built around under-estimating the likely opposition. It is holy writ for them that they have all the guns, for example. Indeed, their self-esteem actually depends on viewing intelligent, nuanced, empathic people as weak or effeminate. Given their impulsive need to project, it is easy to see that they are profoundly fearful underneath all the bravado.
I was always impressed with the lack of resistance when the New Orleans police illegally seized hundreds of guns after Hurricane Katrina. The “cold, dead fingers” mob had to get the hated ACLU to retrieve their sacred talismans in court. We should be prepared for anything, but given that we are dealing with an empire of bullshit and posturing neurotics, don’t be surprised if the Great Showdown is the biggest anti-climax since Y2K.

Also because of the gray area that the OLC opinion left them in by invalidating the applicability of the ICWPA to the case. The OLC had no business whatsoever being consulted and Congress needs to keelhaul their asses for having the temerity to rule on an issue completely outside of the DOJ’s wheelhouse. Barr wanted a pretext with which to bury the report and they gave him one, and if the IC IG hadn’t gone over the DNI’s head by notifying Congress that something extremely aberrant was going down they would have succeeded.

New Stonekettle

We are at a very, very dangerous moment in history.

Trump is mad. Mad angry. Not mad insane - though that works too.

Goddamn, is he mad.

He’s so mad, he’s literally sputtering - something that I thought was mostly just a creative turn of phrase.

He stepped off Air Force One on Friday fuming, red faced, seething, sputtering mad, and yelled at reporters that he might try to file some sort of legal action to stop his impeachment.

What these guys are doing, Democrats, what they’re doing to this country, is a disgrace and it shouldn’t be allowed! There should be a way of stopping it. Maybe legally through the courts. But they’re gonna tie up our country. I mean we can’t talk about gun regulation we can’t talk about … anything. Because frankly they’re so tied up, they’re so screwed up, nothing gets done except for when I do it!

Shouldn’t be allowed!

There should be a way of stopping it!

Maybe legally though the courts.

And maybe not.

Maybe not. That’s the implication here, isn’t it? That maybe not part.

Read a tweet today that said he diverted 770 mil from European defense against Russia to the wall. Don’t know if that is true, but someone posted that as part of a list.

That’s why I keep calling it graft, because that’s what it is:

(b) Whoever—

(2) being a public official or person selected to be a public official, directly or indirectly, corruptly demands, seeks, receives, accepts, or agrees to receive or accept anything of value personally or for any other person or entity, in return for:
(A) being influenced in the performance of any official act;
(B) being influenced to commit or aid in committing, or to collude in, or allow, any fraud, or make opportunity for the commission of any fraud, on the United States; or
(C) being induced to do or omit to do any act in violation of the official duty of such official or person;
(3) directly or indirectly, corruptly gives, offers, or promises anything of value to any person, or offers or promises such person to give anything of value to any other person or entity, with intent to influence the testimony under oath or affirmation of such first-mentioned person as a witness upon a trial, hearing, or other proceeding, before any court, any committee of either House or both Houses of Congress, or any agency, commission, or officer authorized by the laws of the United States to hear evidence or take testimony, or with intent to influence such person to absent himself therefrom;

The DOJ Criminal Division’s assessment that what Trump was asking for had no intrinsic value is a ridiculous farce. He put a $400 million price tag on it.

And Kasich. He hated Kasich a lot too…

Kasich hatred was one of my strongest bonds with OA—we both had the inside Ohio skinny on that asshole. I do miss talking Ohio politics and scandals with my fellow Columbusite. Sigh.

And, on a different note, why is the movie “No Way Out” playing non-stop in my mind?
