And the underlings are going to risk the court’s wrath. If this helps Trump win in places like PA where the ballots need to be delivered tonight then Trump wins and they get pardons and their fines and legal fees paid by someone.

Trying to avoid watching the CNN or Fox streams… for these kinds of things I first check out the CBS News live stream to see if they’re broadcasting.

The old networks like CBS have lost the “race” in the news-entertainment business, but maybe that means their news shows are less puffy?

Agree that the various outlets, especially TV, are pushing for maximum eyes-on-product by hyping drama as high as possible.

In some ways, Twitter is mild by comparison.

We know that Biden will win the states with lots of Democrats, the question is whether those squishy middle of the road purple areas finally had enough people sick of Trump that they turned out to vote.

What’s even worse is that I sometimes don’t get around to the landline VM for several weeks — and occasionally do miss a real message. 95% of the calls are fundraising requests from charities (and in election years, from candidates) and almost all the rest have to do with attempts to sell a new roof, new windows, and alarm systems! If I am actually in the room and recognize the caller, I may pick up the phone. But most of the time it’s not clear who is calling.

I usually have CNN on for very generic, anodyne coverage. Their D and R talking heads are… not great, but have been trained to be extra polite. They play with their map a lot, and that… works for me.

I can’t stand to hate-watch Fox. Just no. Maybe when it gets called for Joe. I like some of the people on MSNBC, but the desk dynamic is weird AF every year I’ve tried them. The old-school broadcast networks are so stuck in the mud it’s unwatchable.

Unless one knows where the votes are from and has a detailed comparison of how each county typically votes, it’s premature to draw any inferences from these results. They report this to keep viewers watching; if they waited until there was conclusive or meaningful numbers, people would switch to other networks. And given the number of channels now available, many viewers might prefer old episodes of Monk to election analysis before there is anything worth analyzing.

re: #22 Interesting Times

Well, Nate, out here in California many of our counties did not finish counting in 2016 until a few weeks after the election.

So no, one does not have to wait until all votes are counted, for most counties around this country.

Sure, there will be some counties in swing states that are very very close and until the last signature by the county official is put on paper one should not be sure.

But again, i don’t expect that to be true of most counties.

It feels like a Western or a chambara series with a meditative pace to me, which I’m down for, but two episodes in I like it but am not in love with it. The pace doesn’t bother me because I keep getting caught up in minutiae and trivia like the design choices.

Latinos aren’t the magic People Of Color that leftists think they are. Latinos, like most other immigrant communities, learn very quickly to lift the gangplank after they’re done crossing it. I’m worried about their vote. And more, they aren’t “Latinos”: They’re Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Dominicans and others. “Latinos” is just the term du jour for whites to use.

Not drinking until there’s some clarity. The CVS closes at 10 and the Frys at 11 if I need alcohol for a celebration.

Just finished talking a highly anxious daughter off the ledge (it’s early, don’t take to drink until the polls are closed in most states, etc.) Hard to do when I’m nervous myself.

Time for a dinner break and then I can start obsessing in earnest.

2016 was the worst for me, 2000 a close second. 2004 I kind of expected.

virtually no results in yet
we couldn’t wait
half the bottle’s gone

so we’re looking at half a champagne breakfast anyway

I expect the election results to be the same even though we drank half the celebration already

And there is WIDE consensus that Mark Hamill voiced the best Joker anywhere in the franchise.

the best robin, oddly enough, is casey kasem, who also voiced shaggy.

the order the votes are counted or reported is meaningless

the only thing that matters is the final total
