Mark Lettieri - Deep: The Baritone Sessions, Vol. 2
Stream/Buy: https://orcd.co/ml_deep

Guitar transcription of this song (and the whole album):
https://www.marklettieri.com/music-store

Mark Lettieri - “I started writing this in a hotel in Sherman Oaks, CA during the tracking sessions for the Fearless Flyer’s Tailwinds album. Thus, the working title was “Swingin’ in Sherman Oaks.” I’d say this song is a good example of what I’d call the “baritone funk sound” - a funk/R&B-meets-rock vibe where the melody and hooks come from rhythm guitar figures, rather than traditional single notes lines. Of course Bobby and JT’s groove and feel just take it over the top.”

“Tidal Tail” written and produced by Mark Lettieri.

Video editing and 1st camera: Andy Laviolette for Mr. Magic Carpet Ride Productions
2nd camera: Patrick Craine
Filmed at Furndware Studios, Dallas, TX

“Tidal Tail” Personnel
Jason “JT” Thomas: Drums
Bobby Sparks II: Hammond B3, CP70, Rhodes, Mellotron, ARP Solina
Mark Lettieri: baritone and Big 6 electric guitars
Mixed by Maxwell Stark
Mastered by Marko Schneider

The Ark Encounter said Wednesday that it would take about three years to research, plan and build a “Tower of Babel” attraction on the park’s grounds in northern Kentucky.

A release from the Ark Encounter park said the new attraction will “tackle the racism issue” by helping visitors “understand how genetics research and the Bible confirm the origin of all people groups around the world.” No other details were given on the Babel attraction or what it might look like.

Doesn’t this dumbfucker know how that story ends?

tl/dr version: God, seeing the tower and city, confounds their speech so that they can no longer understand each other, and scatters them around the world.

Huge.

Do as I say or I smite you.
Do as I say, and kill your first born (who you waited decades to have!) or I smite you.
Do as I say, or I kill entire cities.
Do as I say, or I smite your country with plagues.
Do as I say, or I kill first born of entire country.

Here are my rules, and if you don’t follow them to the letter, I’ll let my followers kill you or stone you or put you into slavery etc.

You didn’t follow my rules and prescriptions to the letter, didn’t believe Moses would come back down with my law, so you’re not going to the Promised Land. You’ll wander for 40 years so I can kill your generation off entirely (you too Moses!).

So much of the Old Testament is about smiting or threatened with being smote.

The announcement about the still-mysterious series includes character descriptions, along with the names of each character’s English- and Japanese-language voice actors. On the English-language side, Game of Thrones and Iron Fist actor Jessica Henwick will play the lead character, a replicant named Elle with a secret past. Meanwhile, the series will also include Brian Cox (Succession), Wes Bentley (The Hunger Games), Stephen Root (Office Space), and many other recognizable names.

Also think the bit that really sticks out to me is Steenman saying Bridges’ book “doesn’t offer redemption at the end.”

Redemption for who? For what? Black folks and the white folks who supported desegregation don’t need redemption because they weren’t using everything including violence to stop the movement.

Moderate white folks who really just wanted the “status quo” to endure? Those who didn’t argue later that violence/riots caused by whites trying to clamp down on the movement only proved that it was moving “too fast” eventually tried to take credit for the movement’s success.

And the racist bastards who were willing to go so far as to kill little girls like Ruby Bridges to maintain white supremacy? With few exceptions, most never accepted that what they did was wrong and many went to their graves convinced that history would prove them “right.”

In this case, “redemption” is just part of the overall lie that whites just eventually came around and agreed that racism was wrong and came to support equality, which is one of the biggest lies of the last century.

After years of being on BBSs and blogs, one truism I’ve discovered is that the asshole screaming “If they can do it to me, they can do it to you!” rarely got banhammered on the first offense. It’s usually a series of offenses, because moderators will find any number of ways to look “fair” that ends up leading the people actually respecting the TOS all but petitioning said asshole to be fired out of a cannon towards the sun. Time-outs, temp bans, muting, and various other methods of faking “authority” while really just trying to get the asshole to pipe down and start abiding by the rules.

The “free market” is a good way to balance supply and demand and direct flows of capital to where they can do the most benefit. But only if that market is regulated to the extent that the price of a product or service reflects the total cost involved.

An awful lot of modern capitalism works on the principle of privatizing profits while socializing the downstream costs, while attempts to bring those costs into line with price are decried as “job-killing over-regulation”.

Second part: yup

First part: Absolute nope. It’s why we’re still using bootleg corn liquor here for hand sanitizer here. There is an absolute need for hand sanitizer here when even medical facilities cannot get it. Toilet paper is still sketchy here.

Captialism is absolutely not interested in “most benefit.” It is interested in “most profit.”

World’s Smallest Violin alert:

The neighborhood app Nextdoor is filled with people begging for gardeners and house cleaners.

“I can’t seem to find a person to cut my lawn…. I had someone for years, but I think he is too busy with estate job,” one post said.

Another issue, the article explained, is that the Town of East Hampton now restricts gas or diesel-powered leaf blowers. No more than two blowers can be used at a time for properties smaller than one acre.

“For the one East Hampton resident, the absolute worst has happened,” wrote Vanity Fair.

“I had to buy a lawnmower and cut my own lawn. I wanted flowers planted behind the pool. The landscaper didn’t show up. I had to do it myself,” this person whined. “My brother just showed me how to use the thing that trims the weeds. Yesterday, I finally did that. I had to take my $800 sneakers off first, but it was actually satisfying.”

That moment when reality dawns that getting rid of the “illegals” would not magically mean that “real ‘Muricans” would agree to work for slave wages.

Also how a flood that, by biblical calculation, would have occurred at the full height of Egyptian dynastic power killed all the Egyptians, but then put them all back on the Earth with absolutely no memory of having died. Almost like a first-season Dallas ending.

I thought JR getting shot was the ending of the first season, and Bobby alive in the shower the cliffhanger ending for season nine of Dallas.

Furnace company: “We don’t install gas lines, that the gas company’s problem.”

Wife to gas company: “Well, I guess we don’t need a furnace in Nebraska then.”

Maybe a plumber?

That is what is really at the core of this anti-CRT bullshit: The efforts to suppress minorities (more specifically their votes) continues to be hampered by people being reminded of why laws like the VRA and CRA exist in the first place.

mRNA vaccine technology moves to flu: Moderna says trial has begun
Moderna aims for one seasonal shot for flu, COVID-19, respiratory viruses RSV and HMPV.
arstechnica.com

In addition to influenza, this envisioned combination shot would target two other common respiratory viruses that circulate alongside influenza—respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and human metapneumovirus (hMPV)—as well as the COVID-19 coronavirus, SARS-COV-2, which some experts have speculated could become seasonal. Currently, there are no licensed vaccines against either RSV or hMPV. And it’s unclear if SARS-CoV-2 will become seasonal and/or if annual booster vaccines will be necessary.

“We believe that the advantages of mRNA vaccines include the ability to combine different antigens to protect against multiple viruses and the ability to rapidly respond to the evolution of respiratory viruses, such as influenza, SARS-CoV-2 and RSV,” Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel said in a statement. “Our vision is to develop an mRNA combination vaccine so that people can get one shot each fall for high efficacy protection against the most problematic respiratory viruses.”

Right. As soon as the bean counters tell them the benefit of paying off Republicans outweighs the negative PR.

In the meantime they can just donate to an anonymous PAC anyway.

So i have subscribed to The Oatmeal newsletter. Highly recommended.

In the past I would only visit the website when I saw it on social media, but you know what? Social media censors the good (ask outrageous fees for “promotion”), as well as the bad (incitement of treason).

Yeah, I know CSS feeds do the same function (darthstar I think mentioned this in a tweet posted here), but I would rather get email.

Yep, they’ll follow every other major corporation caught in the past 2 decades directly donating to fascist fuckwits and achieve plausible deniability by donating to SuperPAC instead. That way, when the PAC is caught donating to those same asshats, Toyota spokespeople express fake “outrage” that their money is going to things they totally don’t support.

Tower of Babel attraction?

Doesn’t this dumbfucker know how that story ends?

tl/dr version: God, seeing the tower and city, confounds their speech so that they can no longer understand each other, and scatters them around the world.

I’m sure they can find something in the Bible to twist into an excuse that it also explains “race” as God’s will as well. And I will bet it will start with everyone being white and then God turning some of them other colors as part of his displeasure. Furthermore, it will be the ringleaders of the offensive tower build that are turned black.

I was watching this. No wonder we’re doomed. The media people in that room, asked really ridiculous questions. Do you trust the Taliban? Like 10 times. We need actual journalists in that room.

I’ve said it before, and it’s worth repeating.

The WHPC can be replaced with a bunch of high school journalism students daily, and you’d get a much better level of discourse, information, and answers all the way around.

The press have their agenda and wont stop beating a dead horse, all while letting key questions that were asked go unanswered (as with what happened when McConnell was confronted with low vaccination rates among GOPers across the nation).

Maybe a plumber?

The fellow from the gas company was just here. My wife put him on the telephone directly with the furnace installer. They got the issue straightened out.

The problem wasn’t so much we were getting confusing answers from both; it was that we did not know the correct questions to ask.

Like other utilities, the gas company’s responsibility ends at the gas meter. Their responsibility will be to shut off the gas to our house when the furnace company is ready. The furnace company will cut off our old furnace and install the line for the new furnace after the gas company shuts off the gas. The furnace company expects this will take no more than two days to complete the gas line.

The gas company in Scottsbluff has over a dozen people working that area over to the Wyoming line. Here, they only have one person who covers over a hundred miles from Ogallala to our town. He popped over sixteen miles from Lisco where he’s working on a different job for the gas company to help us straighten this out.

We gave him profuse thanks for helping out with this.

Once we get good at determining which parts of the RNA can be used to trigger immune responses, this will be the equivalent of switching from a hatchet to a scalpel for doing surgery.

That’s all well and good but the farm requires an average of about 100 labor hours a week, with up to 500 during harvest. That goes on even now, with me in treatment for prostate cancer and not able to contribute as much as usual.

Yes. It’s going to lead to a sea change in how vaccinations work on viral infections, and maybe even parasitic infections, to say nothing about cancers.

mRNA tech do for us in the 21st century what penicillin/antibiotics did for infection control in 20th.
