“Those people…they went a little too far. I didn’t tell them to go that far, but they did. And let me tell you something: It wasn’t everybody. Most people there were good people and they were upset about the election. It was a non-violent protest. Then all of a sudden you have a few idiots take it too far. The Fake News will tell you it was planned that way, but it’s all lies. You can’t believe it. And again, when you’re talking about Nancy Pelosi and Mike Pence, maybe they got what they deserved. Maybe they didn’t. Who knows? They could have hired those people to take them out! That kind of stuff happens in the Middle East and other places…it happens! Maybe it’s happening here now. Could be, I don’t know.”

There was an earthquake in Prague, OK, in 2011. I remember asking my dad (who grew up in that area and Prague was “town”) if he knew what was on that particular plat which could have caused the issue. He didn’t, and couldn’t remember any drilling taking place there. The 2011 quake took place in the vicinity of wastewater injection wells, which were not a thing when he was growing up. I imagine they’ll find the same thing here.

Also, a $0.02 per dollar tax would equal:

re: #20 Charles Johnson

Well, there’s two ways this plays out…

1. electoral ballots are still saved and the count still goes on, and Biden/Harris are declared the winners. Trump is impeached and we finally find the line Senate Republicans won’t pass - multiple assassinations of elected officials - resulting in him being removed in the waning days of his administration, replaced by President Steny Hoyer (unless Dems get feisty and nominate a woman to serve as Speaker). He’s then arrested for incitement to violence and faces prosecution.

2. the electoral ballots are not saved, they’re burned. Trump tries to declare a state of emergency and tries to use that to hang onto power. Dems in the House impeach him, because, obviously. Senate Republicans face a choice - they are mostly cowards - Trump stays in office and things go completely to shit.

In either case, he’s probably saying the same things he’s saying now… because he is an idiot and can’t help himself.

re: #58 JC1

According to USGS

In Oklahoma, which has the most induced earthquakes in the United States, 2% of earthquakes can be linked to hydraulic fracturing operations. Given the high rate of seismicity in Oklahoma, this means that there are still many earthquakes induced by hydraulic fracturing.

Also USGS:
Oklahoma has had a surge of earthquakes since 2009. Are they due to fracking?

Beginning in 2009, Oklahoma experienced a surge in seismicity. This surge was so large that its rate of magnitude 3 and larger earthquakes exceeded California’s from 2014 through 2017.

While these earthquakes have been induced by oil and gas related process, few of these earthquakes were induced by fracking. The largest earthquake known to be induced by hydraulic fracturing in Oklahoma was a M3.6 earthquakes in 2019. The largest known fracking induced earthquake in the United States was a M4.0 earthquake that occurred in Texas in 2018. The majority of earthquakes in Oklahoma are caused by the industrial practice known as “wastewater disposal”. Wastewater disposal is a separate process in which fluid waste from oil and gas production is injected deep underground far below ground water or drinking water aquifers. In Oklahoma over 90% of the wastewater that is injected is a byproduct of oil extraction process and not waste frack fluid.

(my bold)
It’s oil extraction wastewater not frack fluid, so I guess that’s OK///////

The RNC has spent $1.6 million to pay for TFG’s legal bills (to defend him on the tax/bank fraud charges). The charges stem from his actions prior to being president.

This could get interesting. If he’s forced to pay for his defense, I’m thinking his known issues with finding attorneys will definitely surface and I doubt the current lawyers will continue in their role if they stop getting paid.

Edit: I neglected to mention that the RNC was considering cutting off that funding.

1 degree of separation today from an anti-vaxxer dying. My wife does home care for elderly folks. She can’t visit one of her clients because the client’s nephew came over recently, but not long after had to be hospitalized for covid. She called today to see how he’s doing and he told her his nephew will be taken off the ventilator today. He refused to get vaccinated because of his Catholic beliefs. Her elderly client is vaccinated. He was apparently just a regular church-going guy of French-Canadian descent, but not all that religious.

The sad thing is that the guy dying is the uncle of a young man that my son played tennis with in high school. His family is also into the same extreme form of Catholicism. They played doubles (three years ago) from time to time, but never bonded because the young man was warned against fraternizing too much with the secular. I have to assume that they couldn’t afford Trinity, the local private high school.

Those weren’t Catholic beliefs. The religion doesn’t discourage vaccination, and in fact, the Pope promotes it.

Looks like I will be dodging a bullet with the incoming snow storm expected for the Chicago area. 2 storms ago, I hurt my poor new electric Toro when I was being a good neighbor. I hit their above-ground downspout drain cap and bent the blades AND the plates that connect them to the auger. Parts have been on back-order for a week. Thankfully these parts just bolt on. easy fix they shouldn’t even take 30 minutes. If the stars align, the local Toro dealer will get the parts soon.

on the topic of Ukraine, representatives from Russia and the U.S. had an angry exchange at the U.N. today, with the Russians accusing the U.S. of whipping up hysteria and U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield accusing Russia of “attempting, without any factual basis, to paint Ukraine and Western countries as the aggressors to fabricate a pretext for attack.”

WaPo’s report says Russia and China joined forces to try to keep the U.S.-called Security Council meeting closed to the public, but the other members forced an open meeting. Biden said in a statement that the meeting is “a critical step in rallying the world to speak out in one voice.”

Keep in mind that it is very, very likely that Justin Bieber did not simply pay 1.3 mil for an NFT.

Since the market is based on hype, the fastest ways to generate hype is simulate sales that generate hype. You give the celeb the coin to buy the NFT, or some other such nonsense.

Note: I originally wrote “technically legal” but that’s not the case; more than influencer has been caught hiding the compensation they receive to present coin products as good investments…I guess the FCC just isn’t there yet regulation-wise.

And BAYC…which is awash in VC money, actual money…does this regularly.

TFG had a habit of tearing up documents after he handled them. There was a team tasked with taping them back together since the documents were presidential records. He was asked repeatedly to stop doing that, but continued. This has been known for a while.

Which suggests evidence that he saw and read the documents in question.

One of the many Trump books written several years ago discussed how Trump routinely tore up documents and those assistants who cared about the law taped them back and preserved them. These documents are all part of the presidential record and are legally required to be saved. But Trump has never cared about the law and neither do his minions, nor anyone who continues to support Trump.

Apparently the New York Times has given not-Anglican priest Tish Harrison-Warren a coveted Sunday space on its op-ed page. Last week, as you may remember, she posted an anti-abortion screed, which I responded to on Twitter. Yesterday, she posted another screed about how streaming church online is bad and we really need to get back to church. I’m pleased to say that people are pushing back strenuously against this assertion.

I also noted that there is now an email address at the NYTimes for Ms. Harrison-Warren, so I took the opportunity to drop her a line about how she needed to address the questions people were asking about the two articles she’s written so far. I also suggested she use her bully pulpit to address child sexual abuse in the churches, as well as the way women, people of color, LGBTQIA persons and the disabled are treated. I’m dropping the letter behind the button because not everyone wants a rant cluttering up their LGF timeline.

It still boggles my mind that fully 22% of American Jewish voters went for Trump last time around.

Within any group of people there are about this same percentage willing to throw their own to the wolves thinking they will be eaten last.

I know several. They are educated and as racist as any other Trump supporter. Some support Trump because they are loyal to Netanyahu, who was a big Trump fan. Don’t forget that uber racist Stephen Miller is Jewish. And there is also the Jewish association that supported Hitler , at least until they discovered they were also targets.
