Folks are seeing this, right? What are the odds the Supreme Court gives white people in charge the right to define blackness?

The Durham investigation, which was supposed to blow the lid of off the biggest scandal since Watergate, the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, ends with another acquittal. That makes two acquittals and one conviction, resulting in one sentence of probation.

also, that whole original KJV that is supposed to be the “official” one…good grief, that was King James’ handpicked clerics to translate whatever to justify “Bible rules” to control the lower classes and the rest of the common folks. It had NOTHING to do with Christianity and everything to do with christo-fascist rule of the time.

Found out today about #5 in the Women on Quarters series for this year…

The U.S. Mint will begin shipping coins featuring actress Anna May Wong on Monday, the first U.S. currency to feature an Asian American.

Dubbed Hollywood’s first Asian American movie star, Wong championed the need for more representation and less stereotypical roles for Asian Americans on screen. Wong, who died in 1961, struggled to land roles in Hollywood in the early 20th century, a time of “yellowface,” when white people wore makeup and clothes to take on Asian roles, and anti-miscegenation laws, which criminalized interracial relationships.

Anna May Wong will become the first Asian American to be on U.S. currency

A long overdue recognition of a beautiful and talented actress who suffered from stereotypical roles and racism.

Yeah, she was not cast in THE GOOD EARTH because they weren’t about to cast an Asian woman and pair her up with a white man (who was in yellow face) cast as the lead. That her white replacement won an Oscar for that role is insult upon injury.

(Wanna know more insult? More white women have won Oscars playing Asian characters than Asian women playing Asian characters).

Yes, unfortunately I am very aware of things like that. My son was adopted from Vietnam, so this white boy has gotten some very … intense… lessons in American attitudes to Asians.

It was especially interesting watching the racist attitudes against him from the Native Americans in his school. He shut that down when he asked them “Who’s people defeated the US Army?”

Also, I assume you implied Madison was the sole author of the Constitution.

While Madison was mostly responsible for the Bill of Rights, John Jay and Alexander Hamilton were also significant authors of the Constitution, and John Adams was a serious calming and rational influence on everyone when things went nutzo (and it often did).

And there was also Ben Franklin’s calming methods.

So, again, completely false equivalency because King James just wanted one thing with his version of the Bible and it was his way or the highway.

Nothing like the Constitution process at all.

Anyone who finds an equivalence between writing of the Bible and the Constitution, I really do have to send a SERIOUS side eye.

Peterson is a loon. The people who invented these images had seen snakes. They hadn’t seen DNA. (Which doesn’t really look like that anyway. It must be the rear of the building.

A mural plastered on the side of a Gowanus building attempted to celebrate the South Brooklyn neighborhood — but opening the garage door reveals an unfortunate mistake.

The name “Gowanus” stretches in huge white letters across the music studio at 156 6th Street with the “W” placed almost entirely on a garage door — leaving the mural to read “Go Anus” when the door is opened.

Anymouse 🌹🏡😷  Oct 18, 2022 • 5:55:15pm

hi

I just got a survey form from Hilton on “How was your stay at the Hampton Inn in Mitchell, SD?”

I don’t often write reviews, much less negative reviews. My wife and I stayed in the most expensive room in the hotel two nights ago on our return from Newfoundland and Labrador.

However, my experience was so awful I sent back the survey to Hilton. As I promised them, I would tell others of my experience [behind the hide bar].

I realise LGF is not a hotel review site, but what transpired directly relates to regular discussion here (unsafe use of firearms).

I have not slept in two days since staying at the Hampton Inn in Mitchell, SD without waking up from nightmares about being shot in a Hampton Inn. I stayed in the far end room from the desk, the room with the accessibility shower system. My complaint is about the man who stayed two doors down from me on the same side, and the desk staff’s response.

The Inn was hosting a hunting competition on the night I stayed. The next morning, when returning to my room from breakfast, a man overloaded with hunting gear and two firearms came out of his room two doors down from mine. One gun was in a case, the other, a .12 gauge shotgun, was open-carried. As he was overloaded, he swung the barrel of the .12 gauge in my direction, then dropped it on the floor. I leapt out of the way of the barrel to avoid getting shot if the gun misfired.

I went outside the hotel to calm down, then to my room to throw up after the fear of having a shotgun pointed at me subsided, then to the desk clerk to complain about the man endangering hotel guests by not controlling his weapon.

The on-duty clerk took the side of the negligent gun owner: “I’m sure the safety was on.” She nor I had no idea if that was true, nor does it matter since you never should rely on safety devices to protect life. She then told me that South Dakota is a big hunting area. I don’t care: So is where I live. She said it was not deliberate. I don’t want to be shot in a Hampton Inn inadvertently, either, and told her if the incident had turned out differently, they would have had the police and ambulance crews in the hotel and not a complaining guest.

A second woman came from the office and was bemused and smirking at the exchange between the desk clerk and me.

The very first rule of firearms safety is “control your weapon at all times” and the second is “always assume a firearm is loaded” (hence me jumping out of the way of a shotgun pointed at me at one of your properties, inadvertently or not). I don’t want to hear from your hotel staff apologia for someone who might have killed me.

If Hampton Inn has a policy allowing open carry of firearms in its hallways, then I don’t ever want to stay in one again, and will tell every last person I know that Hilton properties do not value the lives or safety of their guests.

What I expect to see from this survey is no acknowledgement at all from you at all. The minimal response I would consider acceptable would be a personal letter from the manager of the hotel saying that they have started training staff on the proper way to respond to a guest relating their life was endangered by another guest. A better response would be banning the man two doors down from me at the hotel from any Hilton properties.

If open-carry of firearms uncased is allowed in Hampton Inns, then your hotels are a direct target for armed robbery by anyone who just strolls into the halls with a gun. This Hampton Inn is unsafe.
