Email Address Protection at LGF
The best way to prevent all spam from reaching your Inbox is, of course, to never put your email address on the web. There should be a big sign at the entrance to the internet, “Abandon all hope, ye who enter — for here there be robots.” Night and day, tireless web crawling spambots, combing through web pages looking for email addresses they can add to the mailing lists of the nefarious demon-possessed creatures who profit from polluting the web with this flood of useless greedy mind-numbing BS.
But if you would like to share your email address with other LGF users when you post a comment, it’s now quite a bit safer thanks to some coding suggestions from readers Caton and GI Joe. To see what I’m talking about, pass your mouse over this mailto link and look at your browser’s status line (at the bottom of the window) or look at the page source; there’s no recognizable email address in the code at all, even though you can still click the link to launch an email program. If there’s a bot that can decipher this scheme, I salute its demon-possessed programmer.
