Don’t even want to think about his “Catholic Take-out”, though I’ve heard the “Buddhist Flambe” is good.

I don’t think Jewish Salad is the best name for a dish in the first place. I have the utmost respect for the Jewish people, but it seems like that could easily, as it did here, lead to offensive comments and misunderstanding.

There was no such salad on the menu, the bigot restaurant guy made it up on the spot. Rabbi Riter ordered a Greek salad.

This is the time of year when we as Jews forgive each others’ sins against us as part of the Days of Aw. That said, this “person” (and I use the term loosely) doesn’t think he did anything wrong and when caught at it tried to change the story. He needs to be made to understand that what he did was wrong. But then again, this happened in a state where the Magen David is considered a gang symbol, not a religious symbol.

There is such a thing as an Israeli salad, my mom used to call it Jewish salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, hard-boiled egg, celery, a tahini dressing, no lettuce).

I’ve had “Israeli salad” but including chopped sour pickle and without the egg.

When I lived in Jerusalem there was something called an “Arab” salad which consisted of tomatoes, onions, & grated radish with olive oil. Supposedly because that is what Arabs liked to eat. Well, it’s tasty and simple enough that anyone would eat.

The point is that “Jewish salad” is not something that was actually on the menu. The rabbi ordered a “Greek salad” and then the guy taunted him.

I’ve seen the same dish called “israeli salad” or “palestinian salad,” but with the lebanese pickle and olive oil and without the egg. was once told that the difference is the palestinian salad is more finely diced - i’m not sure if they meant that ironically or not

Any salad that contains French fries is obviously mythical.

I’ve had Scottish Salad: deep-fried pizza sauce.

Probably a hit in Mississippi too, come to think of it.
