They’re looking to tax miles driven by pushing to get GPS units and/or demand mileage counts to figure taxes, and the gas taxes aren’t going to go away either.

They’re in the process of developing regs to control COx emissions, which puts every breath you take in jeopardy of being taxed in some fashion.

The thing I don’t get about this whole movement, besides the obvious personal intrusion, is that it would be a disincentive to buy a car that gets good mileage, if everyone is going to pay the same taxes regardless of the efficiency of their cars.
