re: #1101 JohnnyReb

I was told it is more prevalent in dogs that are considered sight hunters. Our Akita was very very bad at doing that. Every time we took him to Fort Trumble for a walk he would have to roll in the goose poop a couple of times. He didn’t care about the geese, heck you could let him off the leash and he would just run around and not bother them.

Bears do it, too. I remember watching a film from Alaska. A dead whale had washed up on the beach, and had been rotting there for quite a while, still largely intact, when an Alaskan brown bear showed up. He had trouble getting through the skin, and was standing on top of the bloated carcass, bouncing up and down, when the skin ruptured and Mr. Bear plunged into the largely liquid, highly rancid interior. Where it proceeded to roll around and completely coat itself in the greasy, noxious fluid.

I think it must be something bear chicks really dig.
