Some things the government does better, national defense is the obvious example. The fight has always been how much it should do, or could do better. The fiscal conservatives need to restrain the idea that Uncle Sugar can do everything better.

So is international diplomacy and regulation to keep the states form getting into economic wars with each other (interstate commerce).

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
