2004 is an outlier due to the whole 9/11 and Iraq War factor - domestic issues were virtually ignored; it was all durr hurr, bush kept us safe, kerry won’t all the time. Too many voters fall for dumb, shallow, alpha-male chest-thumping and what better way to showcase that than an ongoing war?

That’s why my biggest fear at the moment is Pumpkin Pinochet starting such a war and the grotesquely cynical “good for us, bad for America” corporate media doing everything they can to enable him just as they did for the monstrous lie that was Iraq…
