Regarding wind power, I lived in Germany for a few months, and I must admit I really like the look of the giant wind power generators.
They remind of a TV show I watched as a kid, with these giant tripods roaming the world and scaring the bejebuz out people.

they also kill lots of birds, and here in CA, the places that have reasonably steady wind are also the bird migration corridors.
