Amen. I’m amazed at how far African Americans have come. My Dad told me about going to Florida from Jamaica in the 1950s and seeing racial segregation up close and personal. And my parents talk about watching the Civil Rights activists being manhandled on tv while they were living in England. Needless to say they were thrilled when President Obama was elected in 2008 and ecstatic that he was re-elected. Progress is beautiful.

I shocked the hell out of myself by bursting into tears when he was elected the first time, then sitting there blubbering non-stop for a good 20 minutes or so. It was really weird because I had no idea I’d invested so much into it (though half of the tears were probably due to relief at finally getting rid of the neocons, heh).
