You don’t need to tell me about it. I’m from an irish catholic family. My aunt and grandmother had pictures of JFK on their walls, with a palm cross behind it that was refreshed every palm sunday—-and they weren’t democrats.
I also remember being told by a protestant friend that i and all my family would be going to hell forever and ever, because we were catholics. When I was 7.

I never heard that from anyone about being Catholic. We were Catholics too even though I’m an atheist now. I did here some threats of physical violence and threats of death for being atheist. Also heard a lot of the old South American anti-Semitic madness from the Catholic end — something about Jesus if you know what I mean. It’s almost like they all fight this theological war for 1000s of years to no end.
