and what i said above is i dont think the dems would 100% unite to save the deal. (as you say needing 8 or so R’s. i think they’d let the theater play out as i described

so suppose:

i wouldnt be surprised to hear the r’s on the committee voted for it because they felt the whole house should debate it. but in the end they wouldn’t support it when the vote came. happens all the time.

in truth, not all the d’s were thrilled with it, but lets say most were — 180 -200?

so they’d still need about 20-40 sane R’s who didnt want the economy to crash and burn and had enough guts to buck the rest of their party. that’s a taller order

could it happen? i guess…
