It’s not just the left, as Killgore has just pointed out. I wish I could fully explain it in easy terms, but all I can do is continue to point out Thomas Sowell’s A Conflict of Visions, and hope folks read it.

The type of people who are concerned about those poor terrorists are the type who think that war can be prevented if we’re just nice to everybody. They fail to understand it’s human nature for men to desire dominating other men.

They live in an unreality where they believe that they can reshape human nature into something that it is not.
