I replaced a failing HD about 2 months ago. I use the School’s connection and all other tasks are doing well. Chrome has had a speed problem for 4 months. I got Firefox a little after that.

I would scan the filesystem and disk first, it could have corrupted some files in the transfer. Then I would do as suggested and remove and reinstall FF and Chrome.
