RWNJ Christians have to discard most of the Sermon on the Mount as well. In fact, the Christ of the bible falls short of RWNJ perfection in many vexing ways. The obvious answer is to rewrite the bible, of course.

Yes, although the reason behind my posting that was a number of discussions with folks who claimed to believe The Bible is the INERRANT, WORD FOR WORD, NOT SUBJECT TO INTERPRETATION Word Of God. 7 literal 24 hour days, literal Flood, etc.

Then you ask them about the camel and the eye of a needle, and they go all wobbly - “Well, you know, there was this pass in the mountains near Jerusalem called “The Eye Of The Needle”, and it wasn’t very easy for camels to get through it, but definitely POSSIBLE, so it doesn’t REALLY mean that wealth makes it hard or impossible to enter the Kingdom of Heaven…”

7 Days? Literally true.
Adam and Eve? Literally true.
Hate the Gays? Literally true.
Rich can’t get to heaven? “Well, what you need to understand about that passage….”
