Who was the old Chicago Tribune reporter (now retired or dead) that said that was what the problem was with journalism today. Bald guy. Blue collar. He said not enough reporters hung out at the corner tavern after work and had contact with real people.

His name was Mike Royko. I always loved his columns; gutsy and honest, even when he drew the wrong conclusions. He was a great writer and the Tribune is poorer without him.
