Kind of like Palin running for mayor of Wasilla on the anti-abortion platform. I just look at all of the energy put into this one issue and I can’t force myself to understand it.

I’m going to have to go wash my fingers after typing this, but I agree with Hillary Clinton’s attempt to find a middle ground on this issue by proclaiming that from the government’s perspective, abortion ought to be legal and rare.

Nonetheless, it’s the correct position. The government needs to ensure that those who want this procedure have access to it. It also ought to strive mightily to limit government funding for it, leaving that responsibility to those who desire it in most cases. It was a way to begin government withdrawal from the issue, which is the wrong forum for it in the first place.
