All those people on Twitter who insisted to me that the Amash amendment didn’t defund NSA programs … were wrong. That’s exactly what it did - it proposed to defund the telephone metadata collection program.

And it was attached to the defense appropriations bill that included Republican provisions to prevent Guantanamo Bay from being closed. Any liberal who supported this was played for a fool by Amash and Glenn Greenwald.
