True hacking story.

One of the offices I deal with had reported they were having problems with a printer taking forever to print. At first they though it was just taking forever to warm up, but they went thru all the diagnostics and the printer was working perfectly. So then they started looking at the print queues and everything looked fine. Then someone checked the logs, uh-oh.

Turns out that for 2+ years, the printer was set to forward all documents sent to it to an IP address in Russia, then it would receive the documents back from that same address to print locally. Turns out the printer was working fine all along, the delay was coming from the traffic having to go thru Russia first.

Interesting. Let me guess—a website was available to set up the printer, and no one had set the admin password?
