The jet stream is dipping *way* south this spring. Cold in west and mid-central US. Lots of lifties in the atmosphere further south, with beaucoups moisture pumping in from the Gulf. Ideal environment for big ass super cells and clusters. When you have an environment where cumulonimbus cells reach 65,000 feet, which has been common this spring, mayhem ensues. And it’s still May. We’ll get at least one more major outbreak, maybe two.

Heavy Weather.

It’s making things quite cold here in Chicagoland. But it should be around 60 tomorrow, and sunny. And that’s good because my dad and I are going to a Cubs game. One of the managers at work lucked into a tickets package, so the office is closing for Memorial Day weekend at noon and a bunch of us are going to the game. We can each bring someone. and I’m bringing my dad. I’d invite my best friend, but he’s a Sox fan of the Cubs-hating variety.
