IIRC the Magic Hot Springs property was originally settled in the 1800’s under the Homestead Acts. The water rights to the runoff and therapeutic use of the naturally occurring hot springs dated to that time. The hydro power water rights dated much later to some guy who owned the property in the 1960’s I think. He built a shitty looking run of the river dam with a head of 10 ft or so at something like 17 cubic feet per second. I did the math and came up with a likely maximum output of around three kilowatts. Last year when the place was still for sale the dam was in disrepair and they were getting all their power from diesel generators.
