Being arrogant doesn’t make you an anti-vaxxer. It sounds like they are either very susceptible to propaganda or they are not too bright.

I definitely think there’s a strong component of arrogance in almost all anti-vax sentiment, and in most contrarian mindsets and conspiracy culture generally. These people get off on the idea that they’re smarter than legions of subject matter experts, who they either feel are elitist and look down on them or are part of a vast sinister medical industrial complex conspiracy. So yeah, for the most part they’re not too bright (or have a very narrow kind of savant like intelligence) but they fall in to this trap because they have a complex about not being bright and this arrogation of expertise they have not earned becomes their coping mechanism.
