Indeed. Georgia has a growing, diverse, and politically powerful metropolis in Atlanta, and a lot of rural black voters as well. WV is very old, very white and young people are fleeing the state as it shrinks. Yet it still gets two senators, just like Georgia.

I’m very slowly starting to come around to the “reform/abolish the Senate” way of thinking. The thing of it is, I still think there is value in these states having outsized representation in some place in our government; someone has to protect the rights of the minority… as long as they’re actually protecting rights, not preventing governance at all and actively working to remove rights from the majority. To that end, at the very least, I feel like the filibuster should be a thing of the past, and I hope that someday soon, we can elect senators who aren’t stuck on the “august traditions of the world’s greatest deliberative body” and can recognize the racist and anti-majoritarian nature of the filibuster.
